The Highlands Baseball team completed its best finish in school history, after falling in the state-title game to West Jessamine (Nicholasville) last Saturday in Lexington. While the team wasn’t able to bring home the school’s first baseball title, they put up some impressive numbers and turned the corner of the program.

According to Manager, Jeremy Baioni, the team will be in the state record books for the following:

Offensively:

Runs Scored – 344. Minimum to get in is 325.

Hits in a Season – 440. Minimum to get in is 375.

Team Batting Avg – .375. Minimum to get in is .375.

Defensively:

Season Shutouts – 13. Minimum to get in is 10.

Consecutive Shutouts – 5. The actual state record is 5 and the team tied that number with 5.

Another impressive stat: the team did not get shutout all year.
