On Saturday, June 13, Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day, a family-friendly community event, will be held at England-Idlewild (EI) Park in Burlington from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day is a nationwide annual celebration originated by the International Mountain Bike Association (IMBA), where adults and kids can share a special day together outdoors riding mountain bikes.

Riding Forward, a non-profit organization whose mission is to advocate, educate and develop today’s youth and communities to reach their full potential through partnerships involving two wheeled sports, together with Boone County Parks and Trek Bicycle Stores of Cincinnati will be hosting this free community event that featuring a new beginner pump track, a mountain bike skills course, group rides, and more.

The pump track marks the completion of Phase I of the new England-Idlewild bike park created by Riding Forward and Boone County Parks. In the near future, the EI bike park, the first of its kind in the region, will also include an advanced pump track, dual slalom course and jump lines.

All local riders who want to have a fun day on their bikes are welcome. Here are the details:

  • Bring: Well-tuned bikes that can with stand off-road riding, helmets (mandatory), snacks and water bottles.
  • Meeting Place: England-Idlewild Park, 5550 Idlewild Rd. Burlington
  • Time: 10 am – 3 pm 
  • Parents are encouraged to ride, too.
  • Waiver form is required and must be completed for all participants and by a legal guardian.
