One way to take in the warmer-than-usual January days this week is to stroll around Downtown Covington and take in all the construction taking place.
The Coppins Building, also the former Covington City Hall, is now in demolition mode to make way for The Hotel Covington project. The former city commission chamber is completely gone to make way for the future hotel’s lobby.Â
Across the street, the Mutual Building continues its transformation into upscale apartments and new retail spaces while at the other end of the same block, Gateway Community & Technical College continues work on a historic building that will soon be home to a Barnes & Noble student bookstore.
On Scott Boulevard, developer Alan Haenle has fully removed the old storefronts from the sprawling building he bought from the City of Covington a few years ago.Â
