The race for US Senator returns to Northern Kentucky one more time before Election Day on Tuesday.
Senator Mitch McConnell, the Republican Minority Leader seeking a sixth six-year term, will fly into Hebron at 10 a.m.
Democratic Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes, who hopes to unseat McConnell, will appear at a rally at Newport on the Levee at 2:30 p.m.
Both candidates have been frequent visitors to Northern Kentucky lately, particularly Grimes who appeared Saturday at Northern Kentucky University with Hillary Clinton and has made the Brent Spence Bridge project a centerpiece of her local campaign.
With the polls opening in under 24 hours, two polls have McConnell pulling away in what had been a tight race. Public Policy Polling shows the incumbent, first elected in 1984, up 8 points, while NBC/Marist shows McConnell with a 9-point lead.
