A Covington parking lot is going from drab to Mad thanks to dozens of volunteers with a mission to make it a destination for performances.
Renaissance Covington and MKSK Architects spearheaded the effort to change the parking lot at the corner of Seventh & Washington Streets to Mad Lot, a pop-up performance venue that features a stage that can be put up and taken down in 30 minutes.
The Mad Lot, as it will be known, is a piece of BLDG’s effort to re-brand this part of Downtown Covington as “Madland”, playing off the city’s strong music and arts scene.
On Saturday and Sunday the parking lot received an initial coat of colorful paint as volunteers worked in the morning hours to make it happen.
There is still work to be done (more painting and landscaping scheduled for next weekend) before the launch party on August 2.
