Fort Thomas Independent Schools will hold a reception open to the public to honor a school official who has dedicated two decades to education in Fort Thomas.

The reception to honor Rita Byrd will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on May 28 at the cafeteria in Woodfill Elementary.
Byrd is retiring from her position, assistant superintendent for student services effective on June 30.
The reception will provide an opportunity for past and present students, parents, community members and others to join with school district personnel to thank her for Byrd 20 years of dedication and wish her well as she begins a new chapter of her life.
