Heavy rain prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Flood Watch for the area through Friday morning.

Several periods of heavy rain will happen Thursday through Friday with rainfall totals expected to be around one and a half to three inches.

Small hail could also be possible Thursday morning while later in the afternoon the storms could become severe. If that happens, damaging winds and large hail may occur, the NWS said.

Additionally, there is also a chance that conditions could become favorable to support tornado development, the NWS said.

As a cold front moves through the area late Thursday through Friday morning, strong to severe thunderstorms will remain a possibility. Damaging winds are the primary threat, the NWS said.

Gusts of thirty-five to forty-five miles per hour will be possible.

After the storms on Thursday and Friday, Saturday and Sunday are looking to be sunny and pleasant. Rain returns to the forecast early next week, though.
