The Kentucky Association for Economic Development is holding its 2013 annual conference at the Marriott RiverCenter in Covington Wednesday through Friday.

The conference is presented in conjunction with the Northern Kentucky Economic Development Corporation (Tri-ED) and Duke Energy.

“The Northern Kentucky community is proud to host the KAED conference in Covington,” said Wade Williams, Vice President for Business Retention & Expansion at Northern Kentucky Tri-ED. “The conference is a great opportunity to showcase Northern Kentucky to economic development professionals, site consultants and community leaders and highlight that our region is a great place to do business.”

More than 150 economic development and elected officials from around Kentucky will participate in discussions on tax trends, foreign investments, manufacturing best practices, energy projects and policies, a public policy preview and an update from the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development.

“The City of Covington is very pleased to welcome the 2013 KAED Annual Conference to our City,” said Mayor Sherry Carran.  “Economic development is always an important issue for cities but especially during these changing times when businesses are exploring new ways on how and where they do business. More than ever, people in the field of economic development must be in tune with how they can attract and support business start ups, business investments and business growth; KAED’s Conference is an opportunity to do just that.”

Conference participants will tour many Northern Kentucky economic development successes such as:

–        UpTech

–        bioLOGIC

–        Fidelity Investments

–        College of Informatics at Northern Kentucky University

Northern Kentucky Tri-ED Chair and Campbell County Judge Executive Steve Pendery and Tri-ED President/CEO Dan Tobergte are featured speakers at the conference.

“KAED thanks Northern Kentucky Tri-ED and Duke Energy as well as the City of Covington for hosting and supporting the KAED 2013 Conference,” said Hal B. Goode, President & CEO of KAED. “Northern Kentucky is a true example of collaboration and success in economic development. Our attendees will learn a great deal from experiencing that first-hand this week.”
