Fort Thomas Police are investigating three possibly connected assaults that occurred in Fort Thomas on Sunday afternoon, FTPD Chief Mike Daly reported at Monday night’s City Council meeting.
Fort Thomas Police responded to three incidents on Sunday afternoon between the hours of 3:00-5:00 p.m. As many as five juveniles — three male and two female — have been described in relation to one or more of the incidents.Â
The likely first incident, according to Officer Derek Faught, involved a man and his teenage son, running southbound on S. Ft. Thomas Ave. They encountered the group of juveniles near the intersection of S. Ft. Thomas Ave. and Grand Ave., where one of the attackers struck the boy in the face. Â
What police believe to be the second incident occurred on the Highland Ave. overpass, involving a woman also out jogging. Police report that one of the assailants began harassing the woman, making sexually suggestive gestures. A passerby in his vehicle stopped to defend the woman, but was also struck in the face.
The third incident occurred on Alexandria Pike between St. Therese Church and Mr. Car Wash in Southgate, where reportedly three juveniles approached a man on the sidewalk and stole his cell phone. No property was stolen during the other two incidents.
Police are still piecing together the exact order of events. Police also confirm that descriptions match among assailants involved in each incident, and they are currently investigating leads to identify possible suspects.
“For us, this is unacceptable. Our police department will not put up with it,” Chief Daly said.
Daly also reports that FTPD has a great working relationship with the Southgate Police Department, and will work with them to investigate these assaults.
No other information is available at this time. FTM will follow up with this story as it develops.
