Every year churches in the
area host their individual festivals. These festivals serve as a great
fundraising event as well as a way for members of the community to come
together and interact with each other. With the Merchant’s and Music Festival
still fresh in our rearview mirror it is definitely festival season in Fort
Thomas. Christ Church, United Church of Christ is getting in on the action as
they plan to host their first ever festival this Saturday, October 5.
The primary goals for the
church are like any other festival. They want to raise money for the church as
well as encourage people to check out what the church has to offer. The
festival provides the perfect opportunity for the community and members of the
church to enjoy a casual fall night together.
The festival will include a
cakewalk, games of chance, an auction, a raffle for a 55-inch television, great
food, cold beer, children’s games including a giant blow up castle, and live
music featuring the band, Josh McIntosh and Company!
I spoke to a representative
for the church and he explained how much work has gone into the festival.
Members of the church from many different committees have planned and brought
to fruition an exciting night for the city to enjoy. The church is very excited
to host their first festival and is hoping that the city will come out to take
part in the event.
The church is located at 15
South Fort Thomas Avenue directly across the street from the post office. The
festival is October 5 and will go from 4 to 11pm in the church’s back parking
lot. You can also visit the church’s Facebook and twitter pages for more
information.
