Jeff Ruby’s the Waterfront will be reopening at Covington Landing, The River City News has confirmed.

An announcement is scheduled for Friday morning at the RiverCenter towers.

The city issued a news release Thursday afternoon without naming the company but a conversation with Covington officials confirmed that the announcement invovles the Waterfront.

The floating restaurant had operated for many years on the Covington riverbank west of the Landing before washing away during heavy flooding when it broke from its moorings in March of 2011. It has been closed since.

The announcement is set for 10:00 a.m.

The River City News will have full coverage Friday.

Note: An earlier story about the “economic development announcement” before knowing that it involved the Waterfront indicated that the announcement would be made next Tuesday. That was incorrect. The announcement is Friday. RCN apologizes for the error.
