– We are currently a little under 500 “likes” on our Facebook page. Can you take a second out of your day and “like” our page so I can send you a DivotCard that’s been sitting on my desk for 2 weeks?

– You may have noticed a few changes to the site, most notably that Ben, Jessica and Stephanie have joined Darrin and I on the left side of the page as blog authors. They’ve all done an amazing job since first guest blogging and I’d thank you to welcome them, as we fully embrace them upon the Fort Thomas Matters team. Our little website is growing up. Thanks to them and of course to you, the readers.

The St. Thomas Festival is this weekend, Friday and Saturday. According to the Fort Thomas Iconic Tournament Bracket back in March, the best festival in Fort Thomas is the St. Catherine Festival, which has come and gone.

What say you now that this one is upon us?

Zeke the Intern has completed our first ‘semi-professional’ episode of Mark vs. Food. Will get that up as soon as humanly possible. It features Izzy’s 110 Challenge and The Cincinnati Rollergirls.

– We are going to start back the “5 Things to Know” feature, in which we ask local professionals to give our readers their “5 Things to Know” that most people don’t know about their field. Click the tab above to read through old posts. If you have a suggestion for a feature, or if you’re a professional yourself, please comment below.

– Before I post Debbie Buckley’s semi-weekly post, I’d like to point out that there will be another day for the Farmer’s Market at a different location. Starting this Friday at the Fort Thomas Plaza (Jeff Wyler, Ft. Thomas Jewelers, DEP) from 3-7.

Not just a great idea to expand the Farmer’s Market, but to help that struggling shopping center. The businesses there are one I frequent pretty often, but a lot of storefront have “for lease” signs on them and they need all the traffic they can get. Kudos.

Debbie Buckley’s “It’s Happening”:

We’ve made it through one LONG hot spell and we’re still smiling. With markets and concerts, Independence Day, the 4th of July race and parade, no one was hibernating, but we’re glad for a respite!

This week things get back to normal. Wednesday the Farmers’ Market at the Midway returns after last week’s holiday break. Be looking for some great new produce! Corn on the cob!!!! Tomatoes have had lots of heat and are plentiful. All sorts of great produce to go along with the honey, wine, bread, and baked goodies. The oils, vinegars, cheese, eggs, meat, soaps, organic bug sprays, laundry detergent, etc. will fill your bags with a wonderful array of locally grown and produced items. The hours are 3:00-7:00 pm in the Midway District (River Road at S. Fort Thomas Avenue).

NEW this Friday!!!! The Farmers’ Market at the Plaza!!!! Our Market will have a second location and time beginning THIS FRIDAY and for the remainder of the season at the Fort Thomas Plaza located at 90 Alexandria Pike (next to Jeff Wyler Jeep at I-471). A second opportunity to purchase fresh items for the weekend. This will give you a chance to also shop some of the stores in the shopping center that you may have overlooked in the past. There’s some good ones with more on the way! The hours are the same: 3:00-7:00 pm.

Amphitheater Concerts: This Thursday, July 12 we are hosting the Marty Connor Band at 7:00. This band is a terrific oldies/contemporary rock band. Bring your comfy chairs and blankets and enjoy a great evening. The museum committee will again bring the grill. You can purchase hotdogs and burgers, chips, and snacks as well as soft drinks and water.

Don’t forget to shop your local Fort Thomas businesses this summer! The Where’s Waldo promotion runs through the end of July. How many Waldo’s have YOU found???
