The Northern Kentucky man suspected in the shooting death of a former local prosecutor was captured Monday morning, the Kentucky State Police said.

Shannon Vincent Gilday, 23, of Taylor Mill, was arrested by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office after being found walking along Barnes Mill Road at around 4:30 a.m., the announcement said.

He was taken into custody without incident, police said.

Gilday was identified on Thursday as the suspect in a deadly shooting early last Tuesday morning near Richmond, Ky.

He entered the home of former State Rep. Wesley Morgan and shot and killed 32-year old Jordan Morgan, who was reportedly asleep at the time.

Morgan had previously worked as an assistant commonwealth’s attorney for Boone and Gallatin counties. She earned her law degree at Northern Kentucky University Salmon P. Chase College of Law, and also served as a deputy press secretary for former Governor Matt Bevin.

According to reports, Jordan Morgan had just joined a private law firm in Lexington just a week prior to her killing.

Wesley Morgan was also injured in the shooting.

Gilday was charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder, first degree burglary, first degree assault, and first degree criminal mischief.

The Kentucky State Police is handling the ongoing investigation.
