The Florence Y’alls (25-35) ventured across the Canadian border for the lone time this year and came back with no wins as the Ottawa Titans (31-29) won all three games.
The sweep left the Y’alls tied for last in the Frontier League West Division with Lake Erie.
Ottawa blitzed Florence, 9-2 to open the series Friday outhitting the Y’alls, 13-6. Right fielder Ray Zuberer led Florence going 3-for-4 with one run batted in. Designated hitter Brennan Price added a double.
Starter Jake McMahill (2-4) took the loss for Florence, striking out six and walking three. Rodney Hutchison, Junior came on in relief and combined with Alex Theis to pitch two scoreless innings.
Florence had the chance to win Saturday, but dropped a 6-5 decision. The Titans built an early 3-1 lead before the Y’alls tied it with two in the top of the fifth. After tying it in the top of the eighth at five, the Titans scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth.
Ottawa outhit Florence, 12-9. Second baseman Tristin Garcia, shortstop Brian Fuentes, designated hitter Craig Massey and Zuberer had two hits each. Garcia, Massey and Zuberer had doubles and center fielder Tommy Siemer batted in two.
Carter Spivey started for Florence and pitched four innings. Carter Poiry, Michael Kirian and Ben Terwilliger (0-1) pitched in relief.
Florence then lost a 4-1 decision Sunday as starter Ryan Watson (0-1) pitched six innings, striking out four and walking one. Hutchison, Junior and Kent Klyman pitched in relief.
Florence outhit Ottawa, 8-4, but could not come up with many clutch hits. Massey and Zuberer had two each and catcher Zade Richardson hit a solo home run in the top of the second for the lone Y’alls run. Zuberer tripled in the top of the seventh with one out, but Florence could not bring him home.
Florence faces the defending league champion and East Division leading Quebec Capitales (37-22) at Thomas More Stadium starting Tuesday at 6:32 p.m.
