The Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association have released their first poll of the regular season.
In the preseason poll, Beechwood was ranked No. 25, nearly three weeks into the season and a 9-1 record later, the Tigers have jumped 10 spots to No. 15 in the latest poll. They’ve already won the 9th Region All “A” title, took a set against St. Henry in their lone loss of the year and look to be a threat for a 9th Region title.
Assumption received all 20 first-place votes, coming in at No. 1. St. Henry also made a big jump from No. 10 to No. 4, off to a 9-2 start with the lone two losses to Assumption, one of them having to go the distance to five sets. The Crusaders are one of just two teams on the year to take a set from the Rockets, who are 11-0 and ranked No. 11 in the country.
Notre Dame Academy sits at No. 6, posting an 8-2 record to date and a win over No. 2 Mercy Academy on Wednesday night. Their lone two losses are to out-of-state opponents in the Nike Tournament of Champions Southeast.
Ryle is ranked No. 10, their season light in games so far as they’ve played just four games with a 3-1 record.
The top five were Assumption, Mercy, Bowling Green, St. Henry and Elizabethtown.
The KVCA also produced a watch list of players to watch this season, that can be found here: PLAYERS TO WATCH
