Wednesday NKY sports round-up: Scott volleyball downs Campbell Co.

The Scott Eagles (18-7 overall) and Campbell County Camels volleyball teams entered the season as the favorites to win the 10th Region crown.

They met for the first of a potential three times at Scott. Campbell County won the first game, 25-18. But Scott won the next three by 25-20, 25-22 and 25-20 scores to win the match.

Scott had 13 aces, 38 kills, 15 blocks, 38 assists and 65 digs in the victory. Senior Audrey Griffin led the Eagles with 34 assists, 19 digs and two aces. Senior Laine Morman had 29 digs. Sophomore Elise Manhardt had a great game serving with eight aces.

Then freshman hitter Milyn Minor and senior hitter Makaylah Mitchell had 15 and eight kills respectively to go with three blocks each. Junior Brooke Balsley added five blocks.

Scott plays in the Halloween Smash on Friday against John Hardin at 7 p.m. at Lexington Lafayette. Campbell County plays at Bishop Brossart (17-11) at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
