Covington Catholic dominated the KHSAA Class 2A state indoor track and field meet at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center in Louisville on Thursday.

The Colonels doubled up everyone, scoring 113 points and beating the field by 60 points with Bourbon County runner up at 53 points.

The 4×400 relay team of Rhett Blettner, Jack Fender, Jackson Germann and Joe Mayer claimed an individual title in a time of 3:34.18, as did Paul Klosinski in the pole vault 14-6). The Colonels had someone place in the top three in 13 of 15 events.

Finishing runner-up was Jack Fender in the 55-meter hurdles in 8.06, the 4×200 relay team of Rhett Blettner, Zach Brooks, Will Danneman and and Fender in 1:32.82, Joe Mayer in the 1,600 (4:28.24), Luke O’Hara in the 800 (2:01.41), Braden Franxman in the 3,200 (9:37.87) and Danneman in the high jump (6-0),

Third place finishes were the 4×800 relay team of Joel Barczak, Jack Dwyer, Jackson Germann and Phineas Holbrook in a time of 8:34.67. Jacob Keller in the 55-meter hurdles (8.12), Rhett Blettner in the 400 (50.8), Drew Kurtzner in the 800 (2:02.55) and Mayer in the 3,200 (9:53.49).

The meet wraps up the indoor season as attention will now shift to outdoor track and field. Covington Catholic finished runner-up in the Class 2A outdoor meet last season.
