Kentucky’s ‘Dream Mile” a one-mile race for the fastest high school distance runners in the entire state.
It’s a showcase for the top 16 boys and girls runners in the Commonwealth, regardless of class, region or any designation, that took place on Friday in Louisville at St. Xavier High School.
A handful of runners from the LINK nky coverage area competed, three on the boys side and three on the girls side. Ryle’s Tiger Bartlett, Conner’s Joey Carroll and Cooper’s Paul VanLaningham competed in the boys race, while Campbell County’s Olivia Holbrook, Beechwood’s Lily Parke and Scott’s Maddie Strong laced them up in the girls race.
Bartlett finished fifth (4:16.27), Carroll was right behind him in sixth (4:17.00) and VanLaningham was 10th (4:18.43) in a race that separated first from 10th by just a little over six seconds.
Thomas Nelson’s Riku Sugie was the top boys finisher in a time of 4:12.11.

In the girls race, Holbrook was the top finisher from NKY in fourth (4:52.61). Parke finished 12th (5:02.03) and Strong came in 15th (5:05.12).
Oldham County’s Tala Fawbush took the top spot in the girls race in a time of 4:49.35.
