The Kentucky Prep Softball All-Star game will take place the weekend of June 21-23 with a couple of NKY players selected to play in it.
Highlands’ Bailey Markus will represent the East Senior All-Stars while Notre Dame’s Abby Turnpaugh will represent the East Junior All-Stars. The games will take place in Bowling Green with an East vs West format.
Markus was a key piece for Highlands as they won the 9th Region for a third straight year. Not only did she hit .460 and lead the team in stolen bases as the leadoff hitter, but her play in centerfield was vital to their success. Markus finished the season with 10 doubles, 14 walks, 46 runs and struck out just 11 times in 126 at-bats.

Turnpaugh was the ace in the circle for the regional runner-up Pandas this season. She went 18-7 with a 1.37 ERA in 143.1 innings pitched. She collected 211 strikeouts to just 30 walks and allowed 107 hits and 28 earned runs. At the plate, Turnpaugh batted .329 and was second on the team in doubles (8) and walks (15). She drove in 22 runs and struck out just five times in 73 at-bats.
