The Bishop Brossart boys and girls soccer teams and the Walton-Verona girls soccer team will make their way to Louisville this weekend for the All “A” Classic state tournament.
All three made it out of their first round matchups recently to advance to the final eight at Louisville Collegiate Sept. 19-21.
BISHOP BROSSART BOYS

After winning the 10th Region All “A” tournament, the Mustangs defeated St. Henry in the first round on Saturday, 2-1. They move on to the quarterfinals to face University Heights Academy on Saturday at Collegiate at 11:45 a.m.
Bishop Brossart is 7-4 on the year and are 4-1 in their last five games. They have a critical 37th District matchup with Campbell County on Tuesday before heading off to Louisville.
The Mustangs are making their 12th appearance in the All “A” state tournament, having won it in 2013 and finishing runner-up in 2014. They are 13-10 all-time in the tournament.
Max Runge and Luke Neltner key the offense with 12 and 11 goals, respectively. Runge leads the team with eight assists, Kingston Hungler with five while Ben D’Alessandro and Samuel Chriumbolo have four apiece. Luke D’Alessandro has 65 saves in 10 games and a 1.5 goals against average.
UHA is currently 9-1. The winner advances to the semifinals Saturday evening at 6 p.m., where they’d most likely run into tournament favorite and host Collegiate. The Titans are 9-2 on the season.
The boys championship is Sunday at 1 p.m.
BISHOP BROSSART GIRLS
After winning the 10th Region All “A” tournament, the Lady ‘Stangs survived in penalty kicks over Beechwood on Monday to advance to the All “A” Classic state tournament quarterfinals.
They’ll face University Heights on Friday at 3:15 p.m. They currently sit at 11-1-2 on the season and hold a top 10 ranking in the state. Their lone loss is to No. 3 Simon Kenton while the Lady ‘Stangs are ranked No. 8 in the latest Kentucky High School Girls Soccer Coaches Association poll.
Prior to Friday’s game, they face a big 37th District matchup against Campbell County on Wednesday. They have a trio of goal scorers in double-digits led by Kylie Smith with 18. Rachel Shewmaker has 15 goals and Rylee Fuller with 12. Shewmaker leads the team with 12 assists, Smith with 11 and Larah Callahan with 10. Madeline Broering has 92 saves in 14 games with a 0.9 goals against average and six shutouts.
They’ll face a University Heights team with a 9-1 record and the winner advances to Friday’s semifinals at 7:45 p.m. against the Walton-Verona and Bethlehem winner. Bethlehem is the only other ranked team in the field at No. 17.
According to the All “A” Classic website, this is Brossart’s 13th appearance in the tournament, looking to win back-to-back titles after defeating Bethlehem in the championship game last season.
The girls championship is Sunday at 11 a.m.
WALTON-VERONA GIRLS

Walton-Verona is here by way of winning the 8th Region All “A” tournament and then defeating Brown 1-0 in the first round on Sept. 10.
They now face Bethlehem in the quarterfinals on Friday at 1:30 p.m. with the winner advancing to face the Brossart-UHA winner in the semifinals on Friday at 7:45 p.m.
The Lady Bearcats are 7-3-2 on the season and the name of their game is defense. They’ve surrendered just six goals in 12 games led by Brynn Willis in net with 72 saves, a 0.5 goals against average and eight shutouts. Avery Turner has five of their 21 goals on the season, Aubrey Fuller and Claire Sams with three each. Bailey Sullivan leads with three assists, Fuller, Kaitlyn Lemming and Makaela Murphy with two each.
This is their 13th appearance in the All “A” state tournament and their highest finish is in 2023 as runner-up.
