The first round of the girls state golf tournament took place for Regions 5-8 on Wednesday at Shelbyville Country Club with five girls from northern Kentucky advancing to the final two rounds in Bowling Green.

Dixie Heights’ Tatjana Andracenko, Cooper’s Reagan Ramage, Ryle’s Anika Okuda, Bishop Brossart’s Emma Laker and Notre Dame’s Didi Jiradamkerng all punched their tickets to Bowling Green.

In the first round of qualifying, there’s three different locations with eight teams and 80 golfers participating at each site. The top three teams out of the eight that participated at each site and then the next best 15 individuals not on those three teams qualify for the final two rounds in Bowling Green Oct. 11-12.

Andracenko had the best round out of the five, finishing with a one-over-par 74 and in a tie for second place. She started with two bogeys on her first three holes, but then recorded three birdies with two bogeys and 11 pars mixed in.

Ramage is headed to her sixth straight state tournament after firing a 75 and finishing in fourth place. She rallied on the front nine with birdies on No. 8 and 9 to be at one-over at the turn. After a double bogey on the 10th and a bogey on No. 12, Ramage finished with birdies on 15 and 18.

Okuda was four-over-par on the day and placed sixth. Her day consisted of seven bogeys, three birdies and eight pars.

Laker finished 11-over and in 15th, Jiradamkerng at 12-over and in a tie for 18th.

The five will get a practice round in Bowling Green on Oct. 10 before the 36-hole tournament starts on Oct. 11.

In the team scoring, Ryle finished fourth, a spot out of the automatic three qualifying spots with a team score of 375, 19 shots off third place Assumption.

Sacred Heart took the top spot by 47 strokes over Owen County. Sacred Heart’s Keira Yun finished first individually, the lone girl under par on the day at one-under-par.

Notre Dame finished sixth out of the eight teams with a 403.
