The reigning 7th Region champions opened the 2024 KHSAA golf season with a victory on Monday.
Ryle’s boys golf team won the Pendleton County Invitational at Pendleton Hills Golf Course with a team score of 293, beating the 11-team field by 15 strokes, Highlands in second with a 308.
Raiders Paxton McKelvey was the individual medalist with a 68. He was followed by his Raider teammates as Andrew Roach shot a 71, Thomas Leone with a 73, Veer Patel an 81 and Bryson White with an 82. Team scoring takes four of the top five scores from each team.
Highlands’ Hank Shick finished third individually with a 70. Nate Surrey shot a 73, Oliver Golden a 79, Alex Race with an 86 and Abram Kees a 96.
Campbell County’s Talen Beane finished second individually with a 69. The Camels finished fifth with a 351.
Covington Catholic finished third with a 316, led by Ben Unkraut with a 71 and finishing tied for fourth with a 71.
