Another week of NKY high school football is in the books. Here is a look at how it played out.

Ryle 35, Campbell County 20
Both teams know the stakes have turned higher to open Class 6A, District 6 action.
The favored Ryle Raiders (4-3 overall) built a 28-0 halftime lead scoring 14 points in the final four minutes, 50 seconds of the half and never looked back in taking down the Campbell County Camels (3-4), 35-20. Ryle has won five straight against the Camels.
Ryle outrushed Campbell County, 216-43. Junior quarterback Logan Verax led the way completing 14 of 23 passes for 158 yards and rushing the ball eight times for 31 yards and two touchdowns.
Campbell County senior quarterback Keegan Hill completed 10 of 19 passes for 151 yards and two touchdowns. Sophomore wide receiver Garyn Jackson had five catches for 95 yards and one touchdown. Junior linebacker Caleb Milton returned a fumble 23 yards for a touchdown.
Campbell County plays host to Simon Kenton (4-3) in district action Thursday at 7 p.m. continuing district play. Ryle plays host to Dixie Heights (2-5) at 7 p.m.
Bishop Brossart 7, Bracken County 6
The Mustangs won a nail-biter for the third straight game. Brossart escaped a tough Bracken Co. team, 7-6 in Alexandria to claim its third consecutive victory by two or fewer points.
Bishop Brossart is now 6-2 on the season and welcomes Paris to town next week.


Beechwood 55, Holy Cross 3
The Tigers had no trouble in dispatching the visiting Indians on Friday night in Fort Mitchell.
Beechwood is now 6-1 on the season and faces a tough district battle next week when Lloyd comes to town. Holy Cross falls to 1-6 and will play Newport next week at Bishop Brossart.
Boyd County 43, Holmes 8
The Bulldogs dropped their second straight district game, being roughed up on the road at Boyd County. Holmes is now 4-3 on the season and will hope to regroup next week at Harrison County.
Cooper 41, Conner 7
Cooper picked up its second straight win to pull its record up over .500 at 4-3. The Jaguars play at Boone Co. next week. Meanwhile, the Conner Cougars are 2-6. They have next week off before visiting Covington Catholic on Oct. 21.
Walton-Verona 29, Owen County 7
The Bearcats picked up their third straight win to improve to 6-2 on the year and 3-0 in the district. Walton hosts Louisville Shawnee next week.

9th Region Tournament Set
The drawing took place Friday. The district champions play host to runners-up on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
The top side of the bracket features the 34th District champion Dixie Heights Colonels (15-2-3) against the 36th District runner-up Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds (14-5-2). In Park Hills, the 35th champion Covington Catholic Colonels (10-10-1) play host to the 33rd District runner-up Conner Cougars (9-7-3). The winners meet in the semifinals on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at CovCath.
The bottom side of the bracket sees the 33rd District champion Ryle Raiders (14-4-2) take on the 34th runner-up St. Henry Crusaders (7-10). Then the seven-time 36th District champion Highlands Bluebirds (13-4-3) play host to the 35th runner-up Beechwood Tigers (10-9-1). Highlands has gone 9-0-1 in its last 10 games. The winners play at 8 p.m. Thursday.
The championship game is Saturday at 1 p.m. at CovCath. CovCath won the tournament last year on its way to a state runner-up finish.
