The Northern Kentucky women’s basketball team trailed Horizon League power Green Bay just 31-28 at halftime.

Then a rough third quarter came as Green Bay outscored the visiting Norse, 24-8 on the way to a 67-51 win Thursday. The Phoenix took both meetings against Northern Kentucky by a combined 46 points.

Macey Blevins led the Norse with 14 points and Kailee Davis scored nine. Khamari Mitchell-Steen grabbed 10 rebounds to go with eight points and Carter McCray had eight points and eight rebounds.

The Phoenix put three players in double figures. Maddy Schreiber led the way with 16 points with Jasmine Kondrakiewicz and Natalie McNeal scoring 12 each. Green Bay outscored Northern Kentucky, 44-24 in the paint.

Turnovers once again hurt the Norse. They gave it away 19 times while Green Bay turned it over just 10 times. Green Bay outscored NKU, 19-11 off those turnovers.

Northern Kentucky (6-16) travels to Milwaukee on Saturday for a 3 p.m. game.
