The Northern Kentucky women’s basketball team once again struggled with turnovers in a 61-55 Horizon League road loss, giving it away 17 times to Purdue-Fort Wayne.

The Mastodons benefited by taking 10 more shots than Northern Kentucky. Shayla Sellers led the Mastodons with 20 points, including a key offensive putback down the stretch and Erin Woodson scored 10.

NKU won the rebounding battle, 53-45. Carter McCray posted her fifth straight double-double and ninth overall with 15 points and 20 rebounds. Kalissa Lacy followed with 12 and Kennedy Igo scored eight.

The Mastodons scored the game’s first five points and never trailed. Northern Kentucky trimmed the lead to one twice in the fourth quarter, but could not get over the hump.

Northern Kentucky (4-15) fell to 2-8 in league play with the loss. The Norse host Detroit Mercy on Wednesday at 11 a.m.
