The Northern Kentucky University women’s basketball team ventured to northeast Ohio and beat Youngstown State, 62-56 for its first road win this year.

Macey Blevins led the way scoring 20 points and recorded a career-high four steals. Center Carter McCray posted her fourth straight double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. McCray also dished off five assists to just three turnovers.

Northern Kentucky had seven different players score. Noelle Hubert and Khamari Mitchell-Steen followed with nine each. Hubert made three 3-pointers.

Youngstown State (7-13, 3-7) led 16-13 after the first quarter, but the Norse exploded in the second and third quarters. Northern Kentucky outscored the Penguins, 21-9 in the second quarter to go up 34-28 at halftime. The Norse then extended the lead to 57-44 after three periods.

The Norse (4-14, 2-7) dug out of the bottom of the Horizon League improving to 2-7 in league play. They travel to Purdue-Fort Wayne on Saturday for a 2 p.m. game.
