The Northern Kentucky University women’s soccer team ventured down Interstate 71 and tied the Louisville Cardinals on Sunday.

Louisville outshot Northern Kentucky, 21-4. Goalkeeper Mickayla Kowalski had seven saves for the Norse (1-1-2). Highlands alum Maria Wiefering played all 90 minutes for NKU.

Northern Kentucky plays at Ohio University on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Houston helps NKU volleyball to win in NKU Invitational

Senior setter/right side hitter Torie Houston, a Holy Cross alum, helped the Norse volleyball team to a 1-2 record in the NKU Invitational over the weekend with a team-high 60 assists to go with four aces.

Northern Kentucky lost to 14th-ranked Ohio State, 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-21) before a sold-out crowd Friday then knocked off East Tennessee State, 3-1 (24-26, 25-17, 25-17, 25-17) on Saturday. The Norse lost to defending Mid-American Conference champion Bowling Green, 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-23) on Sunday. The Norse led the third game, 23-17 on Sunday before the Falcons ran off eight straight to win.

The Norse play in the Missouri Invitational starting Friday against the most Tigers at 7 p.m.
