Notre Dame Academy and Boone County both made runs through the bracket and are bringing home some hardware with them.

Both reached the semifinal round of Tuesday’s KHSAA girls state bowling tournament in Louisville before dropping their Final Four matchups.

Notre Dame earned the No. 6 seed in the qualifying round and defeated Apollo and Meade County before losing to Boyle County. Boone County was the No. 13 seed in qualifying and knocked off Johnson Central and Campbell County before losing to eventual champion Pleasure Ridge Park in the championship.

Campbell County defeated Harrison County in the first round to be a quarterfinalist. Highlands lost in the first round to Pleasure Ridge Park.

Campbell County’s Abby Sargent was the top Northern Kentucky individual finisher, reaching the step ladder bracket and placing third. Sargent bowled a 686 in qualifying to reach the semifinals. She then bowled a 349 her next two games in the semis, edging out Graves County’s Addyson Clifton by two pins for the fourth and final spot in the step ladder bracket. She defeated Bryan Station’s Jordyn Hunting, 194-156, before losing to McCracken County’s Riley Ramage, 182-143 and finishing third.

Dixie Heights’ Ava Cunningham was 12th in qualifying with a 576 in her first three games, missing the semifinals by 26 pins. Simon Kenton’s Mary Hollon (543, 15th), Notre Dame’s Alyssa Bechtol (500, 23rd), Notre Dame’s Clare Pelstring (450, 30th), Dixie Heights’ Abree Young (443, 31st) and Dayton’s Lyssa Mullins (420, 32nd) failed to get out of the qualifying rounds. In order to qualify for the semifinals, bowlers had to be in the top eight after three games of qualifying.

After the boys tournament on Monday and girls on Tuesday, the state tournament wraps up with the unified division on Wednesday.
