Region bowling tournaments took place over the last week as bowlers vied for region titles with an opportunity to make the state tournament February 9-11 in Louisville.
Quite a few Northern Kentucky teams and individuals either won region titles or qualified for the state tournament.
Here they are:
5th Region

Campbell County boys and girls won the team titles. The boys team took down Newport Central Catholic in the championship, both teams qualifying for state. The Campbell County girls team defeated Highlands as both will head to Louisville next week.
The Camel boys entered bracket play seeded third and defeated Scott, Highlands and NewCath on their way to the title. The Camel girls entered bracket play as the No. 1 seed and got a bye to the semifinals where they took down Newport and then Highlands.
Boys individual qualifiers were individual champion Pendleton County’s Braden Brann, Simon Kenton’s Aleck Meredith, Newport Central Catholic’s Logan Thompson and Simon Kenton’s Tyler Blume.
Girls individual qualifiers were region champ Kree Brewer from Pendleton County, Campbell County’s Abby Sargent, Simon Kenton’s Mary Hollon and Dayton’s Lyssa Mullins.
Pendleton County won the unified title.
6th Region

Covington Catholic won the boys team title while Notre Dame Academy won the girls team title. Lloyd Memorial’s boys and Boone County’s girls were the runner-up.
The Colonels earned the No. 1 seed in prelims and defeated St. Henry, Conner and Lloyd Memorial on their way to the title, the Juggernauts also qualifying for the state tournament.
The Pandas also claimed the No. 1 seed in prelims and defeated Beechwood, Cooper and Boone County on their way to the title, the Lady Rebels also earning a spot at the state tournament.
Boone County’s Maddox Kuryla won back-to-back region titles for the first time in program history for the boys individual title. He rolled a 1,139 in the prelims for the No. 1 seed and defeated Covington Catholic’s Mason Bowman in the championship, 219-189.

Kuryla and Bowman qualified for the state tournament individually, as did Covington Catholic’s Dylan Davis and Max Hardin.
Notre Dame Academy’s Alyssa Bechtol won the girls individual title over Dixie Heights; Ava Cunningham, 223-173. Bechtol was the top seed entering the step bracket for the final four individuals with a 980 in prelims.
Outside of Bechtol and Cunningham, Dixie Heights’ Abree Young and Notre Dame’s Clare Pelstring also qualified for the state tournament.
Beechwood’s Hailey Noah and Haylee Nordmeyer won the unified title. Dixie Heights’ Jordon Newman and Romi Desai finished runner-up to also qualify for the state tournament.
