The Ludlow girls basketball program has brought in an experienced coach to be their new leader.
Ryan Bowman was announced as the next girls head basketball coach on Wednesday, taking over for Blake Clary, who resigned after two seasons at the helm.
Bowman brings 18 years of coaching experience with him, most notably as the Boone County girls head coach from 2017-21. He also has stops at Cooper as an assistant for the boys team, the JV boys coach at Conner from 2012-16 and the JV boys coach at Ryle from 2011-12.
“I am back!,” Bowman posted on his X account. “Beyond excited to be given the opportunity to coach once again at Ludlow High School as their Head Girls Varsity Coach! Not wasting this opportunity, and I am extremely grateful to the Ludlow administration and athletic director for believing in me, giving me a chance to live my purpose as a coach once again! Also, special thanks to my beautiful and supportive wife, Tiffany Bowman, as being a coach’s wife isn’t always easy! Now it’s time to grind!”
Bowman is a 2001 graduate of Simon Kenton and has degrees from UC Clermont and Northern Kentucky University with Masters degrees in Special Education and Professional School Counseling.
At Boone County, Bowman led them to a 45-67 record, including a winning season in 2020-21, the Lady Rebels first winning season since 2014-15 in Nell Fookes last season as head coach.
Under Clary, Ludlow went 33-30 over the past two seasons. They’ll graduate seven seniors, six of them that played in at least 27 games this past season. They are expected to return Addy Garrett, the sophomore leading the team in scoring this past season with 15.3 points per game. They’re also expected to return Kiley Huff and Kyreona Brown, the three playing in at least 26 games last season.
