The Notre Dame Academy basketball team quickly put behind the Tuesday loss to Campbell County with a convincing 60-20 win over the Boone County Rebels.

Notre Dame shot 48% from the field and outrebounded Boone County, 39-17 in the win. Sarah Young and Kendra Collins led the Pandas, scoring 12 points each with Emma Holtzapfel and Maya Lawrie scoring eight each. Young also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

Boone County shot 22% from the field. Joslyn Humphrey led the Rebels with nine points.

Notre Dame was originally slated to host Cooper on Saturday, but that game has been rescheduled for Feb. 23. The Pandas (16-5) face Grant County on Monday on the road at 7:30 p.m.

Boone County (3-17) has lost 13 in a row. The Rebels host Oldham County on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Lloyd Memorial 60, Holmes 22

Sierra McCoin’s 24 points and four 3-pointers led the way for Lloyd in their rout of Holmes.

Maleah Ham added 13 points with Mya Holden-Hopkins chipping in eight.

Kenya Williams pulled down nine of the team’s 45 rebounds, Emarie Litton and Holden-Hopkins grabbing eight each.

The Juggernauts (9-12) return to the floor Saturday in Augusta for the 9th vs 10th Hardwood Classic. They take on Augusta at 1:30 p.m.

Holmes (2-22) was led by Anjali Faehr with seven points, Natashalee Cole chipping in five. The Bulldogs play at Williamstown on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Boys Basketball

Newport 80, Bellevue 41

The Wildcats won their first game since winning the All “A” State championship on Sunday in convincing fashion.

Newport put four players in double figures shooting 63% from the field and grabbed 31 rebounds. Jabari Covington led the way making 10-of-12 shots from the field on his way to 23 points.

DaShawn Anderson came off the bench to score 20 points making all nine shots from the field. Noah Silverton and Amontae Lowe followed scoring 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Newport held Bellevue to 29% from the field. Jase Iles led the Tigers with 11 points. Zach Mertens and Jordan Pendleton added 10 points each.

Newport (22-3) has won 14 in a row and moved to 3-0 in 36th District seed play with the win. The Wildcats host Newport Central Catholic on Feb. 7:30 p.m. in the final district seed game this year.

Bellevue (12-9) hosts Highlands on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
