It was quite a Tuesday for Campbell County senior Aydan Hamilton.
Hours after being named the 10th Region Coaches Association boys basketball Region Player of the Year, Hamilton set the Camels all-time scoring mark for the program, passing Kevin Reinhardt who set the record in 2002.
Hamilton entered the contest with Pendleton County with 2,099 career points, needing 11 to break Reinhardt’s record. He didn’t waste any time in doing so, a 3-pointer in the first quarter getting him past Reinhardt’s mark. He’d finish with 24 points in the Camels 75-40 victory over the Wildcats.
Hamilton has played on the varsity team since eighth grade and is a four-year starter. He’s headed to the University of Kentucky in the fall on a baseball scholarship.
