The Simon Kenton Pioneers girls basketball team (12-10) earned a 73-50 home victory over the Montgomery County Indians (16-9).
The Pioneers made 40 percent of their shots including 11-of-20 from three-point range and 20-of-25 free throws. Eighth grade point guard Brynli Pernell led Simon Kenton with 19 points with senior forward Emilee Eggleston and freshman Anna Kelch scoring 14 and 10 points, respectively.
“Our energy and focus was there,” said Brenden Stowers, Simon Kenton head coach. “We made a lot of mistakes. One thing we keep preaching is it’s how you respond to them. Everyone in the game made plays. It was a total team effort.”
Simon Kenton plays host to Cooper (17-3) on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
Dixie Heights 63, Campbell County 35
The Colonels (19-6) won their sixth in a row with a home win over the Camels (8-15).
The Colonels saw four players reach double figures in the win making 44 percent of their shots including 29 percent from three-point range and 71 percent of their free throws to go with 23 rebounds. Senior guard Sammy Berman led the way scoring 17 points. Freshman guard Aubrey Elkins and junior forward Abby Thelen followed with 12 each with senior guard Ella Steczynski scoring 11.
Campbell County hit 30 percent of its shots including 22 percent from three-point range and 13-of-15 free throws to go with 15 rebounds. Freshman Isabella Jayasuriya led the Camels with eight points.
Dixie Heights plays travels to Ludlow on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. game. Campbell County plays host to Grant County on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Holmes (1-17) earned their first win of the season over Dayton (8-16) on Monday night.
The Bulldogs were led by Miguel Garcia’s 18 points in the victory. They’ll try for two in a row Tuesday night at Boone County.
Dayton returns to action on Saturday at Thomas Nelson.
