The Simon Kenton Pioneers boys basketball team (3-1 overall) earned a huge 56-48 win over the defending 8th Region champion North Oldham Mustangs (4-1).
Simon Kenton put three players in double figures. Junior guard Travis Krohman led the way scoring 25 points. Senior 7-foot-3 center/forward Gabe Dynes scored 15 and sophomore point guard Jay Bilton scored 10.
Simon Kenton takes on Louisville DeSales (3-2) at Henry County on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
Highlands 88, Holy Cross 80
The Bluebirds (4-0) stayed undefeated with a huge early-season 9th Region home win over the Crusaders (2-3).
Highlands put five players in double figures making 16-of-22 free throws and 14 three-pointers. Junior Brayden Moeves led the Bluebirds with 23 points and senior Will Herald scored 19. Senior Seth Ryan scored 15 points with junior forward Brody Benke and junior Nathan Vinson scoring 11 and 10 points, respectively.
St. Henry put four players in double figures making 13-of-19 free throws and five triples. Senior Matt Resing led the way scoring 22 points and senior center Braden Fedders scored 21 with junior Carson Shea scoring 13 and senior Jack Grayson scoring 10.
The Crusaders play St. Xavier (Ohio) in the John Turner Classic at Noon at Newport on Saturday. The Bluebirds play in the Donate Life Classic at St. Xavier against Jeffersontown at 3:15 p.m.
Great Crossing 75, Holy Cross 60
The Indians (3-1) lost for the first time this year against the Warhawks (4-1) in the Billy Hicks Classic.
Senior guard Jacob Meyer scored 34 points and senior guard Javier Ward scored 14 with senior guard Matthew Dreas adding nine.
The Indians play at Scott County on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the third-place game.
