
Campbell County got back on a winning track with a 61-40 victory over Newport. Both teams are now 2-2 on the season.
The Camels were led by Connor Weinel with 14 points and eight rebounds, balanced out by Jake Gross, Aydan Hamilton and Keegan Hill with 13, 10 and 10 points, respectively.
Newport was led by Maquez Miller’s 25 points, James Turner adding a team-high nine rebounds.
The Wildcats take on Scott (2-3) at home in the John Turner Classic on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The Camels are also playing at Newport on Saturday against Newport Central Catholic (4-1) at 4:30 p.m.
DIXIE HEIGHTS 51, HOLMES 42
Chad Fields got his first win in the coaches seat for the host Colonels (1-3), taking down Holmes 51-42 on Thursday night.
Colin Kazmeier and Griffin Derry led Dixie with 15 points apiece, Hudson Blank tossing in 10.
Holmes (0-4) had three players in double figures led by Jayden Humprhrey with 13 points. Tony Kutcher and Miguel Garcia had 10 points apiece. Holmes will look for its first victory on Tuesday when they host Mason County (3-0).

Simon Kenton (3-1) got back in the win column with an impressive defensive display in a victory over Paul Laurence Dunbar at the Billy Hicks Classic in Georgetown on Thursday.
The Pioneeers held Dunbar (1-3) to just seven made field goals in the contest as they advanced to the fifth-place game on Saturday against Scott County.
Simon Kenton was paced by Brynli Pernell with 16 points, who was named Player of the Game after the contest. Rylie Flynn added 11 as 11 different players entered the scoring column.
The Pioneers game with Scott County is set for 12:30 p.m.
