The Campbell County Camels (20-10 overall) knew they could not let the Paris Greyhounds (7-21) shoot a lot of deep three-pointers like they did in a come-from-behind 63-56 win over Montgomery County in the 40th District semifinals.

Campbell County limited Paris to three in a 66-34 10th Region Quarterfinal win at Holmes on Thursday. The Camels are back in the 10th Region semifinals for the sixth year in a row.

Campbell County will take on Bracken County on Monday at 7:45 p.m. The Polar Bears (23-9) knocked off Harrison County, 63-60 in the second game.

Campbell County led 27-12 at halftime. The Camels extended it to 51-24 after the third quarter.

“We just came out and started guarding a little bit better, ” said Aric Russell, Campbell County Head Coach. “We started getting the ball inside. They just really didn’t have enough to stick with us late in the game.”

Campbell County made six three-pointers using balanced scoring to win. Junior power forward Eric Davie led the way scoring 14 with junior forward Ayden Hamilton, junior guard Jake Gross and freshman guard Garyn Jackson scoring 10 points each. The Camels made 14 of 21 free throws for 67 percent.

The Greyhounds made just 3 of 7 free throws for 43 percent. Senior forward Kentarrion Downey led Paris with 10 points. Junior forward Jayden Marks added eight.

The Camels traveled to Bracken County on Jan. 4. The Polar Bears won 75-73.
