Through 12 innings of the 8th Region baseball tournament, Simon Kenton has yet to allow a run.

The Pioneers reached their first region title game since 2017 with a 11-0, run-rule victory over Henry County in five innings on Thursday at the University of Louisville.

Caleb Uhl pitched four shutout innings of two-hit baseball, striking out five and walking one while Anthony Procaccino closed the door in the fifth with a scoreless frame.

The bats collected seven hits for the Pioneers while they also cashed in on three Henry County errors. Logan Cones, Bailey Rump and Jake Bockmon had two runs driven in apiece in the victory.

A seven-run third inning did the trick as the Wildcats had three errors and a hit by pitch. Cones had a run-scoring single to make it 3-0, Bockmon also with a run-scoring single, making it 8-0.

The Pioneers pushed three more runs across in the fourth to get the score to 11-0, Cones making it 9-0 on an RBI single, Tyler Ruete with a sac fly RBI and Chad Atchley with an RBI single.

Simon Kenton moves on to Saturday’s championship to face Woodford County, the Yellow Jackets defeating South Oldham 6-0 in the other semifinal. Woodford has outscored opponents 16-0 in their first two region tournament games.

Saturday’s first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
