The Campbell County Camels baseball team (23-9) trailed the county rival Highlands Bluebirds (16-13), 4-1 entering the bottom of the third inning. But the Camels rallied scoring twice in the bottom of the seventh to pull off a 5-4 win.
Campbell County won both meetings this year. The Camels knocked off the Bluebirds, 4-1 on March 30.
Freshman right fielder Tyler Schumacher led off the seventh inning with a single off Highlands junior reliever Drew Barth. The Bluebirds then brought in senior reliever Ryan DeBurger with a 2-0 count on senior first baseman Braden Kramer, but DeBurger walked Kramer putting runners at first and second with no out.
Junior catcher Parker Schweitzer looked to lay down a bunt, but pulled back as the ball sailed to the backstop allowing Schumacher and senior pinch runner Brayden Wells to move up one base. Another wild pitch allowed Schumacher to score tying the game at 4-4 and Wells to move to third prompting Highlands to pull the infield in. But Schweitzer belted one to right for a double scoring Wells to end the game.
