The 5th Region boys’ lacrosse semifinals were held on Friday at Dixie Heights High School. Ryle and Cooper met in the first semi, Covington Catholic and Dixie Heights in the second semifinal.

Ryle (8-9) took down Cooper 14-10 to advance to Monday’s championship game. They were led by Bryson White, Ronin Herbert, Charlie Park and Lane Rickey with three goals each while Konnor Farnsworth scored two goals. White added six assists. Carter Alsip had 10 saves in net. They’ll face Dixie Heights on Monday, the Raiders took down the Colonels 11-10 on March 25.

Cooper (6-11) defeated Ryle 17-16 on May 2, but were unable to follow suit a week later. They got four goals and two assists from Eric Wong, Ephraim Turner adding three goals with two assists. Daymien Thompson was busy in net with 18 saves.

In the second game, the Colonels in red (Dixie) defeated the Colonels in blue (CovCath), 16-7. Dixie (11-6) was led by Brayden Bryzgot with five goals in the match. Eli Lawson and Aiden Wood added three goals apiece, Evan Rohlman chipping in two. Jacob Meyers finished with 17 saves in net. They move on to host Ryle on Monday night at 6 p.m.

Covington Catholic finishes their season at 7-12.

Both Ryle and Dixie Heights will advance to the state tournament. The winner hosts 6th Region runner-up North Oldham on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The loser plays at 6th Region champion South Oldham on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
