LINK nky is once again excited to partner with OrthoCincy Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine and announce the highly popular Team of the Week and Team of the Season awards are back for 2025-26 sports seasons!

The LINK nky Team of the Week for Oct. 20-Oct 26 presented by Ortho Cincy is the Cooper football team.

The Jaguars made a remarkable showing with around 6,300 votes, capturing an impressive 63% of the total. The Villa Madonna boys cross country team put forth a strong effort as well, earning 3,400 votes.

A bonus for the Cooper football team is that they are now eligible for Team of the Season (TOS) for the fall. There will also be a winter and spring winner. Each TOS winner will receive a $500 scholarship that will go to an athlete of their choice and they will then be considered for Team of the Year (TOY). Voting will take place for that after each season.

For the team that is awarded TOY, online and print articles will again be published, a large commemorative plaque will be presented and the school will receive an additional $500 scholarship to be presented to the athlete of their choice at the end of the school year. The call for nominations, voting and winning announcement for each will follow the same format as the TOTW.

For the first time in program history, Cooper finished off a 10-0 regular season in the Oct. 25, 63-21 victory over Dixie Heights.

The Jaguars have been impressive in doing so as they outscored the opponent in the regular season, 426-129.

Their potent offense has some off the chart numbers, averaging 42.6 points and 376.8 yards per game despite six of their games resulting in a running clock.

The defense has been just as solid, surrendering just 12.9 points per game and 240.6 yards per game.

Cooper is just the fourth Boone County school to finish off a regular season undefeated. Boone County did it twice in 1987 and 1994, Conner in 2003 and Ryle in 2016.

As the regular season wraps up, the Jaguars are poised as strong contenders for a deep run in the Class 5A playoffs and a shot at the state championship. They’re currently ranked first in the Class 5A Kentucky High School Football Media Poll.

They host South Oldham in the first round of the playoffs on Nov. 8 at 7:30 p.m.

Congratulations to our other nominees as well: Villa Madonna boys cross country, Ryle cross country and Simon Kenton volleyball
