The LINK nky Team of the Week for Nov. 6-12 presented by Ortho Cincy is the Ludlow football team.
The Panthers registered 64% of the vote, breaking away from the competition among the other six football teams nominated.
Earning Ludlow Team of the Week honors was their performance in the second round of the KHSAA Class 1A playoffs with a 28-6 victory over Newport.
LUDLOW FOOTBALL
The Panther defense was dominant and then they rode the Dameyn Anness train to victory over Newport on Nov. 10. .
The win got them to the region championship round as the defense tallied 10 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks and Anness picked a pass off to shut down the Wildcats after their opening score of the game.
Anness then ran for 123 yards and three touchdowns as they racked up 230 yards on the ground, Aiden Smith Baxley registering 51 rushing yards and a touchdown.
Anness finished with nine tackles, two of them for loss and a sack. Breckin Ralston also had nine tackles, two of them for loss. Carson Evans, Smith Baxley, Kaden Morrison and Gabe Payne all recorded sacks.
Ludlow saw their season come to an end in a 29-16 loss to Kentucky Country Day on Nov. 17, the No. 1 rated team in Class 1A RPI. The Panthers were in a battle for the majority, but couldn’t overcome five turnovers in defeat.
Jackson Mays threw for 190 yards while Anness ran for 95 yards in the loss. Smith Baxley had a rushing touchdown, Ethan Powell with a big day receiving, catching 12 passes for 127 yards and a touchdown.
