The Florence Y’alls will be sending three players to the 2023 Frontier League All-Star Game July 12 in Crestwood, Illinois.
First baseman/designated hitter Brennan Price, pitchers Nate Florence and Edgar Martinez will represent the Y’alls. Selections were voted by managers, coaches, general managers and media members.
Price earned his second straight All-Star selection as he leads the Y’alls in home runs (12), RBI (46) and OPS (1.050). In the Y’alls nine-game homestand recently, Price blasted five home runs in six games.
After finishing his grad transfer season at Rutgers, Florence has carried the momentum from setting the single-season strikeout record for the Scarlet Knights and continues to throw heat. After starting his professional career with 16 consecutive shutout innings, he leads the Y’alls with a 2.63 ERA in 41 innings pitched and has recorded 57 strikeouts. His 12.51 strikeouts-per-nine-innings ratio leads the Frontier League.
Martinez is a quality start machine, posting seven straight outings of six-plus innings pitched and less than three earned runs allowed. He leads the team with 61.2 innings pitched and sports a 2.77 ERA. He leads the Frontier League with 68 strikeouts.
The Y’alls sit at 21-24 on the season, currently on a five-game losing streak as their six-game road trip continues on Monday at Gateway. They’ll return home on Friday when they host the New York Boulders for a three-game set before the All-Star break begins on July 10 and runs through July 13.
