The LINK nky Team of the Week for May 22-28 presented by Ortho Cincy is the Notre Dame Academy track and field team. 

The Pandas showed out in the voting with over 2,500 votes and collected 80% of the vote.

Earning Notre Dame Team of the Week honors was their performance at the Class 3A, Region 5 meet in which they took home the region crown by 9.5 points over Dixie Heights.

Notre Dame snuck past Dixie Heights in the Class 3A, Region 5 meet with a 110-100.5 victory for their first team title since 2019.

Ellie Greenwell won the 800 by a little more than two seconds over Simon Kenton’s Allie Atchley. Greenwell also won the 1,600. Greenwell was the lone individual region champ, but the Pandas had five runner-up finishes and five others finish in third, including three of the four relay events.

Notre Dame closed out their season in the Class 3A state meet in Lexington on Saturday. Greenwell grabbed a pair of podium finishes, placing third in the 800 (2:11.92) and fourth in the 1,600 (4:56.71). Greenwell’s 800 time broke an 18-year-old school record. Ella Goetz also reached the podium twice with a sixth place finish in the shot put (37-6) and seventh in the discus (111-6).

Congratulations to our other nominees as well: Beechwood baseball team, Highlands softball team, Bishop Brossart track and field team and the Ryle boys track and field team.
