The Kentucky-Indiana All-Star basketball series will take place in June and four from Northern Kentucky will be participating in it.
The teams will face off in the two-game series on June 9 at the Owensboro Sports Center and June 10 at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Lloyd Memorial’s Jeremiah Israel and Holy Cross’ Jacob Meyer were selected to the boys’ roster while Cooper’s Whitney Lind and Ryle’s Abby Holtman were selected to the girls’ roster.
Israel, a Northern Kentucky University signee, led the Juggernauts in scoring with 21.6 points per game in his senior season and also pulled down 8.3 rebounds per game.
Meyer led the state in scoring for the second straight season with 36.8 points per game and finished his high school career as the Ninth Region’s all-time leading scorer. He’s still uncommitted as to where he’ll be playing next year, but a decision should be coming soon.
Lind, a Lehigh University signee, is the school’s second all-time leading scorer and led the Jaguars in scoring and rebounding the last five seasons. In her senior campaign, she averaged 16.1 points and 6.9 rebounds per game.
Holtman, a University of Cincinnati signee, holds the school record for most 3-pointers made and poured in 15.2 points per game and knocked down 85 three-pointers.
The Kentucky-Indiana All-Star games annually match the top senior basketball players from each state.
The Kentucky boys’ roster includes Mr. Basketball and University of Kentucky commit Reed Sheppard, Owen County’s Teagan Moore and Ballard’s Gabe Sisk. The team will be coached by Owensboro head coach Rod Drake.
The Kentucky girls’ roster has Miss Basketball Haven Ford from Rowan County, McCracken County’s Destiny Thomas and George Rogers Clark’s Brianna Byars. The girls’ team will be led by Boyd County’s Pete Fraley.
