Much like the boys, Simon Kenton and Ryle’s girls archery teams are headed to Bowling Green.
The two flipped places on Thursday night at Beechwood in the Region 6 girls archery tournament, Simon Kenton taking the title while Ryle finished runner-up. The night before, it was Ryle’s boys taking the top spot while Simon Kenton finished runner-up.
The Pioneers put up 1,955 points, edging out Ryle by 16 in the 12-team field. Scott finished third with 1,922, Conner fourth with a 1,920 and Cooper fifth with a 1,907.
Simon Kenton had four finish in the top 15 led by Lauren Westermeyer in third with a 287. Kilee Spegal finished sixth with a 285, Emma Vicars 10th with a 281 and Macie Smith in 12th, also with a 281.
Covington Latin’s Monica Juelg took the top spot individually with a 288. Conner’s Alexis Hunt was second with a 288, Ryle’s Gwen Hamon fourth with a 286 and Boone County’s Annabelle Cline fifth with a 286.
Rounding out the top 15 were Highlands’ Reagan McPhedran at 284, Dixie Heights’ Grace Barnett eighth at 284, Notre Dame’s Ellie Puglisi ninth with a 283, Beechwood’s Layne Armstrong 11th at 281, Scott’s Nicole Alspach 13th at 281 and her teammate Madelyn Freudenberg 14th at 280 and Ryle’s Audrey Hoffman 15th with a 279.
Simon Kenton and Ryle will now advance to the KHSAA state tournament April 18 in Bowling Green.
