Campbell County’s Aydan Hamilton is headed to the University of Kentucky to play baseball, but Hamilton can get it done on the hardwood too.

The Camels senior was voted as the 10th Region Coaches Association boys basketball region Player of the Year. Hamilton was voted on by the 16 coaches from across the region, currently posting a season of 22.6 points per game, 6.5 rebounds per game and shooting 46% from the field, 31% from 3-point range and 77% from the free throw line.

Hamilton is also averaging two assists per game, one steal and a stat that definitely shouldn’t go unnoticed…one charge taken per game.

The day the news comes out, Hamilton is 11 points away from breaking the all-time scoring record in program history. The Camels host Pendleton County Tuesday night, Hamilton entering with 2,099 career points. Kevin Reinhardt is the current record holder with 2,109 points, a record that has stood since 2002.

The All-Region teams consisted of three teams and an honorable mention list. Other NKY players to make the teams were Campbell County’s Jake Gross on the third team, his teammate Garyn Jackson making the honorable mention list and Scott’s Dylan Giffen, Brayden Howell, Carter Eten and Bishop Brossart’s Mason Sepate and Logan Woosley also making honorable mention.

Joining Hamilton on the first team was Mason County’s Terrell Henry, George Rogers Clark’s Jerone Morton, Bracken County’s Blake Reed and Harrison County’s Kaydon Custard.
