BISHOP BROSSART BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM

Often referred to the “Bishop Brossart Invitational” as the 10th Region All “A” Classic Tournament, the trophy heads back to Alexandria as the Mustangs were triumphant in wins over Nicholas County, Calvary Christian and Paris on the Greyhounds home floor to earn their berth to Eastern Kentucky University for the All “A” state tournament.
It almost never happened if it weren’t for Mason Sepate’s clutch 3-pointer to send the Mustangs into overtime against Nicholas County in the quarterfinals. But Sepate and the Mustangs prevailed in overtime and then disposed of Calvary Christian in the semifinals.
Paris would be a tough test on their home floor, but Brossart shot 62% percent from the field in the victory and got double figure scoring from five seniors led by Logan Woosley with 20 points. Luke Schumacher added 13, Brandon Bezold with 12, Anthony Kruse chipping in 11 and Sepate with 10.
Brossart moves on to play Hazard on January 26 at 6:30 p.m. at Alumni Coliseum in Richmond.
HOLY CROSS HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM

While they may not have had to run the gauntlet like they did last year, Holy Cross earned their way back to Richmond with a thrilling 74-72 victory over Newport in the 9th Region All “A” Classic tournament championship.
Jacob Meyer scored 40 in the title bout and was later named the MVP of the tournament. Javier Ward and Jacob Smith were also named to the All-Tournament team.
The Indians knocked off Heritage Academy in the quarterfinals and Ludlow in the semifinals on their way to the championship. They’ll open up with Danville in the All “A” state tournament at EKU at 5 p.m. on January 26.
BISHOP BROSSART HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM

Much like their counterparts on the boys side, the Bishop Brossart girls basketball team can also claim the “Bishop Brossart Invitational”, especially as of late.
The Mustangs claimed another 10th Region All “A” Classic Tournament Championship with a 44-38 victory over Bracken County, their third in four years. They defeated Nicholas County in the quarterfinals and St. Patrick in the semifinals to earn their way to the championship game.
Zoee Myers, Molly Kramer, Jill Planeaux, Olivia Lloyd and Bella Rowe were the standouts in the tournament.
The Lady ‘Stangs meet 13th Region winner Jackson County in the state All “A” tournament at 8 p.m., Jan. 25 at McBrayer Arena in Richmond.
