The LINK nky Team of the Week for January 2-8 presented by OrthoCincy is the Holy Cross Indians girls basketball team.
Close to 70 percent and over 600 votes, Holy Cross pulled away from the Ryle girls basketball team to earn the honors. Nearly 900 votes were tallied the past week and over 1,300 votes cast the prior week, we again would like to thank YOU for voting.
HOLY CROSS INDIANS GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM

The Indians earned the LINK nky Team of the Week distinction for their dominance in the 9th region All “A” Classic Tournament, outscoring their three opponents in the tournament by an average of 31 points. Holy Cross was led by junior Julia Hunt, who averaged 15.0 points and 7.0 rebounds throughout the tournament and was named MVP. Aleah Arlinghaus and Nejai Lewis were named to the All-Tournament team for their efforts as well. The team will head down to Richmond for the All “A” state tournament with their first game being scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 8:30 a.m., against 14th region winner Leslie County.
Holy Cross currently sits at 14-5 on the season and are getting contributions all over the roster with 11 players playing in at least 14 games this season. Aside from Hunt leading the team in scoring and rebounding with Lewis second in both categories, Aleah Arlinghaus leads the team with 18 three-pointers made and a 40% three-point shooting percentage. Aumani Nelson is hitting 86% of her free throws for the team lead among those who qualify.
