Big men’s/women’s road doubleheader win for Thomas More Saturday at Georgetown.

The NAIA’s No. 2-ranked TMU men shut down a No. 8 Georgetown team, 61-38, behind another double-double by junior Reid Jolly to improve to 5-0 on the season, 2-0 in the Mid-South Conference.

The Saints women, ranked No. 1 in the NAIA, defeated the No. 18 Georgetown women, 75-63, to improve to the same 5-0 overall record and 2-0 in the MSC.

In a defensive battle where neither team shot the ball all that well, the 6-foot-5 Jolly scored the first basket each half to get the Saints men going, finishing with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Next in line was 6-9 Noah Pack, who scored 13 points with six rebounds and two assists.

Guard Casey George added 11 points with five rebounds while point guard Jacob Jones had a team-high four assists to go with his 10 points and five rebounds for a TMU team that hit 41.4 percent (24 of 58) from the field while knocking down 38.1 percent from three-point range.

The Saints were coming off an impressive 86-61 MSC win over the University of Cumberlands Thursday where they shot 59.7 percent in opening conference play with a win.

Up Next: The Saints head to Wilberforce, Ohio, for their next game against Wilberforce at 7:30 p.m. in the second game of a men’s/women’s doubleheader.

TMU Women remain unbeaten

Down by a point early in the second half, the TMU women called on their depth again, getting significant scoring from seven players led by Courtney Hurst’s 18 to rally from down one, 36-35, to up by eight, 44-36, on a 9-0 run.

Alex Smith added 14 points, five rebounds and three assists, Emily Simon finished with 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists, Rachel Martin had nine points while freshman Rylee Turner scored eight points with five rebounds and Zoie Barth added seven points, six assists, and four rebounds.

The TMU women were coming off a 94-74 win over Cumberlands Thursday.

Hassler heads home with career-best at NAIA Nationals

Freshman runner Dyllan Hasler recorded a career-best 19:04.5 time at the NAIA Women’s Cross-Country National Championship Friday in Tallahassee, Fla. That earned her a 118th place out of 326 runners and a spot in the TMU record book as the third-best time ever by a Saints runner.
