To be the winning team, fan votes play a heavy role, along with consideration from our sports team here at LINK.

Nominations are reader-submitted or recommended by our sports team. Our Team of the Week program honors all local sports at all levels, whether it’s youth- or adult-oriented recreation, high school or college, professional or amateur.

LUDLOW HIGH SCHOOL PANTHERS FOOTBALL

The Ludlow Panthers football team ended its regular season with a 26-10 win over Holy Cross to bring its record to 4-6. Our submitted noted a 96-yard touchdown by Jaxson Rice as a key highlight. Ludlow opens the Class 1A playoffs on the road at Frankfort on Friday.

COVINGTON LATIN SCHOOL GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

Our submitter celebrates Covington Latin’s historic season in girls cross country. For the first time in nine years, Covington Latin was able to field a full girls team. The team also qualified for the state meet for the first time in school history.

Latin finished 25th overall at last weekend’s Class 1A state meet.

BEECHWOOD HIGH SCHOOL TIGERS GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

Beechwood won the Class 1A Kentucky state cross country championship last weekend, powered by a second-place individual finish by Lily Parke.

It is the first girls crown for Beechwood cross country.

RYLE HIGH SCHOOL RAIDERS BOYS SOCCER

Staff pick: The Ryle boys soccer team won the 9th Region title this season and represented Northern Kentucky well at the state tournament, advancing to the semifinals before falling to Lexington Paul Laurence Dunbar, which went on to win the state championship.

The Raiders finished the season with a record of 19-5-2.

NOTRE DAME ACADEMY PANDAS VOLLEYBALL

Staff pick: The Pandas claimed the 9th Region crown last week and have already won their first round game in the state tournament, winning on the road at Paintsville on Monday. Notre Dame plays again on Thursday against Whitley County at George Rogers Clark High School.
